Janet Ivey
Host, Wild Side Guide, “Nature At Home”
A native Tennessean, Janet Ivey has been a performing resident of Nashville for 14 years. After receiving her bachelor of music degree in Commercial Music with a vocal performance major and a theater minor from Belmont University in 1989, Janet hit the performance trail. Studying with the Tennessee Repertory Theatre, Janet performed in Romeo and Juliet, My Fair Lady and Christmas Memories, among other stage productions.
Since the fall of 1990, Janet has been an active member of LifeWork Productions for Family and Children Services, taking educational live performances to Metro-Nashville and surrounding counties school children. Beginning in 1992, Opryland USA created the Opryland Kids Club and Janet has helped co-create, write and direct the show, as well as star in the popular stage show until the park closed in 1997.
Pro-Kids Productions tapped Janet as the co-writer and performer for The Opryland Kids Club video. After its release in 1996, this video won two Regional Emmys in February 1997: Best Childrens Video and Best Original Music with Lyrics. More recently for Gaylord Entertainment, Janet co-directed the Gaylord Ambassadors performances at OpryMills.
Janet has been on-air talent for a host of regional commercials and videos and was the host of Release Backstage for 13 episodes for Scene Three Productions and the Faith and Values Network. Recently Janet completed co-writing and performance duties on three childrens video releases for EMI Music Group: 25 Sunday School, Action, and Christmas Songs Kids Love to Sing.
In January 1999 Janet was hired as a writer for three episodes of Wish*A*Roo Park, a childrens series that debuted last fall.
Janets voice can be heard on various radio commercials and childrens audiotape series.
Incorporating her multiple talents in character acting, Janet performed at the Ryman Auditorium in the musical “Bye, Bye Love” in 1998.
Janet also has many writing pursuits in the works. Her first childrens book, Tell Me About Heaven...I Think Im Forgetting, was released by Ideal Childrens Books in July 1998. She is currently developing several scripts and pilots for children. Her dream is to write and produce meaningful childrens entertainment through the mediums of television, books and live stage productions.
