Monster Cats of the Cumberland
Take a quick look at these aquatic creatures and you know we’re not talking about something small and cuddly. Just the opposite. These whiskered whoppers weigh in the 40 to 50 pound range and cause the best of rods to bend into a half loop. These are the fabled monster catfish of the Cumberland River. Our fishing buddy Joey Monteleone spends an exciting day with catfish guide and noted outdoorsman Jim Moyer on a stretch of the river near Clarksville, Tennessee. Joey says he’s never experienced anything like catching these catfish. That’s quite a compliment to the cats considering how many fish Joey has caught in his lifetime. But wait - Jim says the Cumberland’s depths hold even bigger catfish just waiting to be caught.
If you’re interested in accepting the challenge of the Cumberland cats, give catfish specialist Jim Moyer a call at (931)358-9264. He’ll be glad to set up a trip and help you experience the excitement and awe of that monster tugging on your line. But remember - when you call this kitty don’t expect a whimper.
