South Holston River

From Episode 104

This time of year, the fall colors are just gorgeous statewide. And some of the most beautiful scenery is located on the edge of the Holson Mountains, along the Cherokee National Forest. Wild Side Guide Holly Sherwin with paddle in hand, canoes the South Holston River. It’s a place we like to call a “Wild Side Wonder.” It sports world-class trout fishing, and just a great place for a weekend getaway with the family.

To Get There:From Bristol, take US 421 south to Emmett Road. Turn right onto Emmett and travel a short distance to left turn (marked for South Holston Aeration Labyrinth Weir.) Put-in at canoe launch just over bridge.
