Working in the Wild - Fish Attractors
Anglers spend a lot of time and money for the latest, new-fangled artificial jigs and wigglers. But there’s another way to attract fish that’s a proven success. It’s a method that involves wooden stakes, a hammer, and some muscle power. TWRA’s Doug Markham plunges into the cold water to tell us about fish attractors. Doug is an Information and Education officer with TWRA as well as the author of two books about fishing, so he knows what he’s talking about.
For more information about fish attractors, visit these sites: www.wildlifemanagement.info/publications/fish_ponds_19.htm and www.tva.gov/river/26apermits/standards/fishattrac.htm.
Remember, if you plan on constructing fish attractors in navigable waters, you need permission from the Corps of Engineers.
Be sure to catch Doug’s outdoors show on news radio 1510 WLAC in Nashville each Saturday from 5am to 7am.
