Duck River Mussels, from Episode 1307 - Click to play free video

This is a story of mighty waters showing off big muscles. The strength of the Duck River is not found in rapids or currents, but in its life-giving support to our ecosystem. It is a living laboratory for TWRA biologists. The river is home not only to mussels, but to an underwater world of aquatic life including some endangered species. Wild Side Guide Alan Griggs shows us why the Duck is considered one of the most important rivers in the world.

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency protects and conserves wildlife and their habitat in our state. You can learn more about the Duck River by visiting www.tnwildlife.org.
