The Narrows of the Harpeth
Tennessee is full of prehistoric artifacts, and one of the most mysterious lies high above the river in the bluffs. Its called a petrogliph, and Wild Side Guide Holly Sherwin takes us on a journey into the past. 70 years ago, Montgomery Bell, an entrepreneur and iron magnate cut a tunnel through the solid limestone hillside in order to divert the river to power his iron forge. But 700 years ago the area was a spiritual center of an ancient civilization where many think human sacrifices took place on the bluffs. A great way to experience the area is by canoe. Its a bit on the chilly side, but the Narrows of the Harpeth State Park is open year round, there are several canoe companies that rent canoes there:

Montgomery Bell S.P. also offers guided tours of the area.
