Bellamy Cave
We’ve all heard the saying, “There’s no place like home.” No matter who you are, rich or poor, young or old, we all need a place to call home. It’s a place of sanctuary and rest, a place to live and raise a family. But what happens when that sanctuary is violated…when our homes are invaded, damaged, or destroyed? Nobody wants the safety and security of home taken away. Yet that is what happens to wild creatures every day, usually by people who don’t even realize they’re doing it. The result is often death for wildlife. But there are some people who want to change that. Wild Side Guide Ken Tucker takes us to Bellamy Cave where some concerned citizens of planet earth are working to protect our wild neighbors. Ken tells us that The Nature Conservancy is working with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and groups like Bat Conservation International to determine if the gray bat population is healthy enough to perhaps be removed from the endangered species list.
